The number of the rescue operation of te Mountain Rescue of the Czech republic increases every year. In this year´s winter season, they made about 700 operations more than in the same period of time last year. The most frequent injuries are contusions, broken limbs and lensions of joints.
The biggest number of injuries happened during sport activities – especially while skiing and snowboarding. The most people were harmed in Krkonose, in Jeseniky and in Orlicke hory. From the foreign tourists, the highest amount of injured people came from Poland, Germany and the Netherlands.
In this season, the increase of the number of the rescue operation rose by 12%. The growth of the serious injuries was registered as well. That is the reason why the number of the rescue operations requiring the use of a helicopter increased. On the other hand, the number of the light injuries decreased.
The leader of the Mountain Rescue of the Czech republic, Mr. Jiri Brozek, points out that despite the fact that the campaing for using the ski helmet is omnipresent (for example the action „Protect the Brains“ or 10 rules of behaviour on downhill lines), the number of the serious injured peope incessantyl increases.
In December 2012, the Mountain Rescue launched the new phone line 1210. It is the unified emergency line of the Mountain Rescue. During the season, a big number of people called to this line and the leader of the Mountain Rescue, Adofl Klepš, claims that the line speeded up and simplified some rescue operations.
The Mountain Rescue of the Czech republic organizes two preventive projects that aim to protect the lifes and health of the visitors of the Czech mountains. One of the projects is called With Yetti at the Czech mountains and it presents the most important and the most interesting places of the chosen mountain region as well as it reminds the safety rules and the recommended behaviour in the mountains. The second project is created in cooperation with Besip. The project is called „Ride a bike only with a helmet“ and it is based on a princip of the cyclo-patrols. In all the regions that are under administration of the Mountain Rescue of the Czech republic, you may meet the cyclo-patrol that will remind to cyclists that it is very dangerous riding a bike without any hemet. The Mountain Rescue created as well the Ten Advices for the safe movement on bike in mountains.
