The most visited touristic destinations in 2013 in the Czech Republic

The agency CzechTourism led a research, that aimed to discover the most visited destinations in 2012.

The Prague Castle has placed at the first place repetedly. In 2012, it was visited by 1,6 mil. people, that is about 200 thousand more than in the previous years. In the first five places, the Jewish Museum placed with 553 thousands of visitors. At the fifth place, there is surprisingly placed the complex of the industrial sites in Ostrava – The Lower part of Vítkovice and the Park Landek with 533 tousands of visitors.

The results of this year´s research only confirmed that the traditional touristic destinations in the Czech Republic have a strong position between all the destinations. The traditional destinations are for example castles, palaces or historical sites. The research also showed an increasing interest in new and untratidional activities, such as sports or industrial sites.

The top ten most visited touristic destinations in the Czech Republic in 2012:

1. The Prague Castle – 1,623 mil. of visitors
2. ZOO Prague – 1,274 mil. of visitors
3. AquaPalace Prague – 782 thusands of visitors
4. The Jewish Museum in Prague – 553 thousands of visitors
5. The Lower part of Vítkovice, the Park Landek – 533 thousands of visitors
6. ZOO Zlín (Lešná) – 487 thousands of visitors
7. The National Gallery in Prague – 435 thousands of visitors
8. ZOO Ostrava – 434 thousands of visitors
9. ZOO Pilsen – 422 thousands of visitors
10. The Center Babylon Liberec – 395 thousands of visitors
