The World is Ours

The exhibition The World is Our (Svět Patří nám) takes its place in the Museum of the glass and jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou. The visitors of this exhibition will meet the history of the commerce with jewellery. They will also discover how this little city became so famous in the glass-making world. This exhibition is the last part of the six-part cycle called „The Fathers of the City“ (Otcové města).

In the Gallery Belveder of the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou, there will be an exhibition that includes 25 significant exporters and their companies from the 18th to the 21st century. And thanks to these export companies, the city Jablonec nad Nisou became one of the most significant centers of the world commerce with jewellery.

The exhibition offers the demonstrations of jewellery as well as rare objects connected to different personalities. One of the most interesting objects is a fragment of a wooden carriage that was used by Johann Franz Schwann.

The Gallery Belveder and the main building of the Museum used to be parts of very important glass-making company Zimmer & Schmidt.

The exhibition is the last part of the cycle called The Fathers of the City Jablonec. This project showed (during the last 10 years) to public the important personalities that helped to Jablonec nad Nisou to be world-famous.
The exhibition The World is Ours will happen from 1st November and its opening hour are: Tuesday – Friday, 1pm – 5pm.
