Bible of Kralice at Hradek

The ceremonial opening of the exhibition „400 Years of Bible of Kralice“ in the Czech Museum of Silver happened on 15th October 2013. This exhibition celebrates the 400th anniversary of Bible of Kralice and it was prepared in collaboration with The Christian Fellowship Kutna Hora.

Bible of Kralice was published in Kralice upon Oslava in 1613. It was a one-sheaf translation of Bible. Before this one, from 1579 to 1594, only the six-sheaves translation of Bible had been published in the Czech lands. This older publication also had lots of notes inside.

The exhibition in the Czech Museum of Silver in Kutna Hora is one of many exhibitions focusing on Bible of Kralice. The local exhibition relates  to the social life in Kutna Hora – the visitors will meet the history of the Unity of Bretheren (Jednota bratrska), its publications and the destinies of christians that used to live in Kutna Hora.

Very interesting are also things coming from the personal archive of the bishop Mathias Konecny, that was discovered in Mlada Boleslav in 2006. In this archive, there was for example the list of members of the Unity of Bretheren from 1612, 1617 and 1619 as well as two stock-lists of the christian property.

At the ceremonial opening, the visitors had the possibility to hear a lecture concerning Bible of Kralice and the Unity of Bretheren by dr. Jiri Just. After the lecture, there was a short concert of a group Cantica – they performed four Bretheren songs. The whole day was ended by debate above Bible and a glass of wine.

The authors of the exhibition: 400 Years of Bible of Kralice are: PhDr. Eliška Baťová, Mgr. Jiří Just, ThD., RNDr. Štěpán Kafka, Mgr. Šárka Kolářová and Alexandr Štěpánovský.

The exhibition will take its place util 24th November 2013.
