Mrs Jasa Kostlánová – the oldest Czech tourist guide

The oldest Czech tourist guide – born in 1919 – is still an energetic lady who studies, travels and shows Prague to tourists. Read the story of Mrs Jaroslava Kostlánová – Mrs Jáša.

Mrs Jáša is very experienced and reliable tourist guide with more than 30 years of experiences. It is not a surprise that many tourists require her services. She speaks four foreign languages – except from the obligatory English and German, she knows Danish and French. Even though she „knew“ all the Czech presidents, she never complaints about her age. She meets the people of the same age rarely and she prefers to be with the people at the age of her children or grandchildren.

She still travels and discovers all the corners of the world – few years ago she traveled through Australia by car and she flies to California every year. Once, she appeared in the local TV show. When she was 50 years, she visited Japan with her friend. And she traveled even during the totalitarian regime – her husband participated in the World Health Organisation and because of that he had the diplomatic passport. Thanks to that, they spent 4 years in Denmark.

Before the depart to Denmark, she earned money by different ways, for example, she worked as a dancer for E. F.  Burian.

She doesn´t complaint about the life during the WWII, but she admits that one of her relatives was killled during the retaliatory measures after the death of R. Heydrich. And she smiles while remembering the 8th May.

Mrs Jáša studies all the time, nowadays it is the physics and meteorology in the Center of the life-long learning. She claims that her vitality comes from the healthy lifestyle and from the genetic dispositions. And at the end, she adds the advice: „Drink milk and do exercises regularly.“
