The Ice Wine du Monde the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape

The third year of the international competition the Ice Wine du Monde will take place during the last August weekend in the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape.

Ice Wine du Monde – the competition of ice wines and straw wines – is under the patronage of the International Organisation of Wine and Vine – OIV) in Paris. This patronage proves the high quality and the prestige of the competition. The Czech competition Ice Wine du Monde is one of the 16 competitions under the patronage of this organisation.

The International Organisation of Wine and Vine has very strict rules that require the representation of wines coming from at least 8 countries, in every category, there must participate wines from at least 5 countries and at least 20% of all wines has to come from abroad.

The main organizer of the competition is the agency CzechTourism. Its partners are for example the State Agricultural and Food Inspection, the National Wine-growing Center, the Wine-growing Fund of the Czech Republic, the city Valtice, the city Lednice and many other.

Every year, there are many experts coming from different countries. They appreciate the best ice wines and straw wines and they chose the best ones of them.

The preparations of the exhibition are happening right now. The acreditation of the international judges takes its place, the applications are being administrated and the accompanying programs abe being prepared – for example the open air festival for public. The festival will happen in the chateau park in Lednice from 31st August to 1st September 2013. The entry to the festival will be for free.
