The Terezin Remembrance Ceremony 2013

The Terezin Remembrance Ceremony 2013 is a traditional memorial event that aims to honour the victims of the Nazi persecutions. This year´s Ceremony will take place on Sunday 19th May 2013 at the National Cementery before the Small Fortress in Terezin.

The Terezin Remembrance Ceremony is every year visited by former prisoners as well as by the important government officials of the Czech republic. The other guests are for example the members of the representative offices of countries whose citizens were imprisoned in Terezin and Litomerice.

The program (beginning: 10am)

• The arrival of the guards of honour
   
• The wreath Laying
   
• The National Anthem of the Czech republic
   
• The speech of the director of the Memorial Terezin – Mr. Jan Munk
   
• The main speech of the President of the Czech republic – Mr. Milos Zeman
   
• The christian and Jewish prayer
   
• The choir piece Lacrisoma and Agnus Dei from Requiem (G. Verdi) – the Choir of Decin

During the Remembrance Ceremony (from the morning to 11am), the Little Fortress will be closed to public. The opening hours of the other objects of the Memorial Terezin are without any change. During the whole day, the entry to all of the objects will be for free.

The Terezin Remembrance Ceremony 2013 happens under the patronage of the minister of Culture of the Czech republic, Ms. Alena Hanakova. The main organizer is the Memorial Terezin. On the organization of the Remembrance Ceremony also participate the Ustecky region, the City Terezin, The Federation of the Jewish parishes in the Czech republic and the Initiative of Terezin.
