Interesting objects of the Night of Churches 2013 - 1st part
The Night of Churches 2013 is a cultural event that aimes to attract the visitors from the public to churches and to show them, that the church still has plenty of things to offer. In various objects, there are prepared different, mostly cultural programs. You may look forward to commented excursions, concerts or creative workshops. The entry to all of the objects will be free.
Cathedral of st. Vitus, st. Wenceslas and st. Adalbert
In the most famous czech cathedral, there will be prepared for you an interesting program: the bell ringing (6pm), the Holy Mass (6:05pm), few organ concerts (7pm, 8pm, 9:15pm), the spiritual meditation (7:15pm), stories of the ordinary people from the Bible (9:30pm) or the greeting of the cardinal Dominik Duka (9pm).
During the Night of Churches, the visitors will have the possibility to see the Tomb of the Czech kings, the chapel of st. Wenceslas, the belltower with bells and the interiors of Cathedral. All the tours are accompagned by the professional guide´s explanation.
The Church of st. Thomas
In the church of st. Thomas at the Mala Strana, every age group will find something interesting. For children and their accompaniment, there will be a competition (6pm). Everyone will enjoy the exhibition in the crypt of the monastery or the concert of the church choir of st. Thomas (8pm). The story lovers will enjoy the spectacle about the monastic legends (6pm), the beer lovers can visit the monastic caffe and taste local beer. A big accent is put on the spiritual part of the night, the visitors will have the possibility to ask for a prayer or speak with one of the priests.
The Church of Our Lady before Tyn
The visitors of this church may look forward to an individual and commented tours around the church (4pm, 6:10pm, 8:45pm, 10pm, 11pm) and to the concerts – choir and organ (7pm and 9pm). Interesting will be the lectures about the mural paintings and about the history of the church (5pm and 8pm).
The Church of Our Lady of the Snows
In this church, the visitors will discover the church with a guide (8:40pm, 10:20pm), the organist himself will describe the organ and will answer all of your questions (9:40pm). The program for children is prepared as well (7:30pm). The visitors will have the possibility to speak with a Franciscan who will gladly answer all of their questions. They may also have a break in the Caffee in the Club or they might use the price reduction in the bookshop Paulinky.
